Coronation Street cobbles were left behind on Tuesday as soap star Ryan Prescott prepared for a new role in a Hollywood film.
The 37-year-old actor, best known for playing Ryan Connor on ITV's long-running series, has secured a part in director Rocky Rodriguez Jr.'s upcoming comedy-drama Waif.
While filming on location in London, Prescott posted a selfie with co-stars Jason Flemyng and Dexter Fletcher taken during a break between scenes.
He captioned the Instagram post: "We are rollllliiiing, first week in to the WAIF shoot and loving it, thank you all for the amazing energy on set!"
In the movie, the Mancunian actor will portray a drifting art collector who lives on his own terms among east London's skateparks, guitar shops and art openings.
Helen Foster has been cast as Prescott's romantic interest in Rodriguez Jr.'s third feature.
One follower responded to the post with "Love this!!!!!!", another wrote "Love it .. smash it Ryan. Can't wait to see it." and a third added "Top drawer actor my favourite on the cobbles at the moment."
Prescott began his career with a brief role as Flynn Buchanan on ITV's Emmerdale before landing the part of Ryan Connor on Coronation Street in 2018.
He was drafted to reprise the returning Ryan Connor, a role previously played by Ben Thompson and later Sol Heras, and has faced several turbulent storylines, including a feud with gangster Ronald Truman.
In 2023, his character endured a harrowing acid-attack storyline, sustaining severe burns to the face and neck while protecting Daisy Midgely from a stalker.
Speaking on This Morning after the episode aired, Prescott explained that the show will follow his character's long-term recovery, noting, "That's one thing we wanted to include was to have some longevity within the parameters of soap, which obviously moves very quickly."
He added, "Acid attack survivors go through hundreds of operations, multiple skin grafts and quite often a lifetime of post-traumatic stress disorder. We want to show the different stages of his recovery."
