Comedian Sara Pascoe, 45, told Radio Times she lost her role on Sky1's panel show Wall of Fame after a moment where she "froze on set".

Pascoe appeared in eight episodes of the programme in 2011, which was later cancelled, and shared the panel with David Walliams, Jack Dee, Kate Garraway and Andrew Maxwell.

She said the producers "fired me as I was equally shy" and described the experience as feeling like a breakdown, noting she would sit silently or make jokes that fell flat, causing her to stop speaking.

Pascoe added that today's panel formats are overly cautious and lack space for emerging comedians.

She also revisited a prior claim that the BBC removed her from The Great British Sewing Bee after maternity leave, saying she was "replaced with a younger woman".

Sophie Willan, 38, took over the role last year after Pascoe returned from a year off following the birth of her second child and hosted one more series before being replaced.

At that time the BBC announced Pascoe was stepping down, but she now says she never intended to leave and criticised the "harsh" BBC for the decision.

During an episode of The Harry Hill Show podcast, host Harry Hill asked if she still worked on the sewing show. Pascoe replied, "No. They replaced me with a younger woman. Showbusiness is harsh," and later insisted she had not quit.

She expressed gratitude for her career, mentioning she had bought a house and sent "love and light" to everyone, before joking she might return as a sewer to work her way back up to presenter.

A BBC spokesperson had previously said, "Sara has been a brilliant, witty and much-loved presence in the sewing room and both the BBC and the Bee team thank her for three wonderful series."

The Great British Sewing Bee launched in 2013 as a spin-off from The Great British Bake Off and has featured hosts such as Claudia Winkleman and Joe Lycett.
