Harry Kane, 33, was presented with the Ballon d'Or at a ceremony in London, marking what he calls the greatest individual moment of his career.

At his Grunwald home south of Munich, the striker now displays a golden ball measuring 31 cm by 23 cm and weighing 7 kg alongside his other trophies.

In a few weeks he will aim to break Peter Shilton's England appearance record when he earns his 126th cap against Croatia on November 12 at Wembley.

Only four other English players - Sir Stanley Matthews, Sir Bobby Charlton, Kevin Keegan (twice) and Michael Owen - have previously won the award.

While Charlton's 1966 World Cup triumph places him ahead in terms of success, Kane's tally of 73 goals for Bayern Munich and England outranked all other nominees, according to the 100 journalists who vote.

After loan spells at Leyton Orient, Millwall, Norwich and Leicester, the moment on stage at the London Palladium seemed unlikely, yet Kane's determination proved decisive.

Bayern's delegation attended the ceremony, despite club boss Vincent Kompany recovering from a collapse.

Kane, who previously lifted FIFA's Golden Boot at the 2018 World Cup, left Tottenham in 2023 to join Bayern, a move he describes as the best decision of his life.

After a season where Xabi Alonso's unbeaten Bayer Leverkusen won the title, Kane secured his first Bundesliga crown in 2025 and then a domestic double the following season, scoring four Bundesliga hat-tricks, including one on the final day to reach 36 league goals.

Bayern won the league by 16 points and Kane added another hat-trick in the 3-0 German Cup final win over Stuttgart, finishing with 61 goals for Bayern and 12 for England, six of which came at the World Cup.

Always hungry for success

The 73 goals represent the second-highest seasonal tally by any player in the 21st century, behind Lionel Messi's 82 in 2011-12, and earned Kane Europe's top domestic scorer title for the second time.

For the third consecutive year he led German football in goals, receiving a cannon-shaped trophy, a nod to Arsenal fans' dislike of him.

Bayern honorary president Uli Hoeness called Kane the club's greatest ever signing, though some argue he has not delivered in England's biggest games.

Kane countered that the team's overall quality has limited his chances, noting his bronze medal from the World Cup after a 3-0 win over France in Miami, despite the 2-1 semi-final loss to Argentina.

Looking ahead, he is focused on a third straight Bundesliga title, a first Champions League triumph, and a potential second Ballon d'Or, while also eyeing Euro 2028, which England will co-host.
