Greggs launched its new Salt & Chilli Chicken Roll on October 29, rolling it out to over 2,700 UK outlets.

The high-street bakery says the pastry provides a "welcome break from the Christmas chaos" for shoppers.

Described as a fiery version of the standard Chicken Roll, the Salt & Chilli variant joins the chain's classic Sausage Roll and Vegan Roll line-up.

The new roll follows the debut of Greggs' first Chicken Roll, which hit stores in April.

Customers who tried the original praised it as "great" and "easy to eat".

Some even suggested it surpassed the iconic Sausage Roll, a product bought roughly one million times each day.

The Salt & Chilli roll has now replaced the original Chicken Roll, which is no longer listed on Greggs' website.

The launch arrives days after Greggs introduced its extensive Christmas range, featuring items such as the Festive Bake, Pigs Under Blanket Toastie, Millionaire's Doughnut and White Chocolate Gingerbread Cookie.

Greggs emphasizes that the new Chicken Roll should give shoppers a "welcome break from the Christmas chaos" on its site.

Available nationwide, the Salt & Chilli Roll can be ordered for delivery via Just Eat, Uber Eats or collected through Click + Collect.

Price is set at £1.35, matching the cost of a classic Sausage Roll.
