Sky Sports was forced to apologise after Fleetwood defender Conor Haughey, 19, used a swear word while explaining his penalty tactic following the League Cup last-16 shoot-out victory over Arsenal at Highbury Stadium.
Haughey entered the match from the bench and, despite not being expected to make history, converted his spot-kick after Bruno Guimaraes was the only Arsenal player to miss, sending the Lancashire side into celebration.
The teenager, excited after his successful kick, said: "I don't know - just pick my spot and put it in. Top corner and then just run to f***." Sky Sports quickly issued an apology for the expletive.
Goalkeeper Jay Lynch, who saved Guimaraes's attempt, said the squad drew inspiration from Grimsby Town's win over Manchester United the previous year and noted the team expected difficult weather conditions that night.
He added, "My voice has gone from organising the defence. The whole team throughout the game was magnificent. To beat the English champions - credit to these lads."
The match also saw a brief interruption after a drone flew over the stadium, and Arsenal's Max Dowman was sent off for kicking Harrison Neal in the final minutes.
