Celebrity Traitors Final Charity Choice
The climax to The Celebrity Traitors final was one of those moments where, if you listened very carefully, you could almost hear half the country groaning with despair. Joint winner Romesh Ranganathan did not exactly help the situation with his charity choice, it is true. But the sighs were mostly drawn by the response Sebastian Croft gave to Claudia Winkleman when she asked who he was playing for.
Sebastian Croft replied with a self-satisfied air that the money was going to Choose Love, adding that the funds would go to refugees and displaced people, predominantly queer refugees and displaced people. This resulted in £41,500 going to the organisation. No one should confuse Choose Love with innocent and worthy British campaigners like Save The Children or Macmillan Cancer Support, as they operate as a politically driven left-wing organisation.
Contestant Drama and Game Dynamics
Series two of Celebrity Traitors Winner Romesh Ranganathan started out strongly and provided the television moment of the year when Richard E Grant announced he was a Traitor. Amol Rajan was quickly dispatched after seemingly deciding he was about to become a light-entertainment fixture. From episode two onward, paranoid and narky contestants replaced the initial jaunty adventure.
Maya Jama turned up to the final breakfast dressed as an air-conditioning unit during the celebrities' game of competitive clothes-wearing. Meanwhile, Miranda Hart Supports James Acaster After Celebrity Traitors Twist highlighted how comedian and Traitor James Acaster became consumed by a role where he realised he did not like lying. Later, Myha'la Herrold accused the show of unconscious bias and racism, a claim addressed by Uncloaked host Ed Gamble.
Charity Funding Concerns
The celebrities charities ticked numerous political boxes during the broadcast. Romesh Ranganathan stated he was playing for The Refugee Council to help people who need help, avoiding the specific categorisation chosen by other players.
