Romesh Ranganathan told an audience at a small London pub that his wife, drama teacher Leesa, was recently hit with a hateful racist message about their marriage.
The Celebrity Traitors star, married to Leesa since 2009, said she was left "incredibly upset" by the incident.
"I'm not exaggerating, I get racist messages every day online," Ranganathan said during the intimate gig.
He added that the specific message sent to Leesa was too graphic for The Sun to repeat, according to the Mail.
Ranganathan quoted his own advice to his wife: "Here's my advice: look at our house. You've come over to the dark side, and it's working pretty f***ing well for you. Cry those tears into the swimming pool."
He expressed guilt, noting, "I felt bad about it, though. Even though it is not my fault, I am the reason that Leesa received that message. She is upset now because she is married to me."
He remarked, "If she was married to a white guy, she wouldn't have got that message, but she also wouldn't have a pool."
This is not the first time the comedian has spoken about abuse targeting his family.
Earlier in the year, the BBC presenter explained that his three sons, Alex, 16, Theo, 14, and Charlie, 11, also face racist remarks.
During a chat with co-host Tom Davis on the Wolf and Owl podcast, he recalled an incident where a peer told a girl, "I don't know why you're bothering to chat to her. You're going to end up marrying your cousin."
He added that Alex has been called the "P-word" at school and said, "At a certain point, you've got to go, 'They're obviously hearing that at home.'"
Ranganathan concluded that hearing such abuse makes him think, "You're racist," when he sees the parents, describing it as a horrible feeling.
