A 16-year-old schoolboy named Archie Self achieved a nine-dart finish live on British television, overtaking Luke Littler's age record.
Self celebrated the perfect leg in the opening leg of his MODUS Super Series Champions Week Group A match against Daniel Ayres in Portsmouth on Wednesday.
After seven treble 20s, the teen hit treble 19 and completed the leg on double 12, securing his place in history.
Ayres, 38, offered a handshake and a hug before the second leg began.
Known as "The Archer" on the circuit, Self is 16 years and 345 days old, making him the youngest to accomplish the feat on camera.
Two-time world champion Luke Littler, now 19, was 16 years and 363 days old when he hit a nine-darter against Nathan Aspinall at the Bahrain Darts Masters in January 2024.
Other young players to complete a nine-dart leg include Michael van Gerwen (17 years, 298 days in 2007) and Sebastian Bialecki (19).
Self, from Thatcham in West Berkshire, began throwing at age two and is among a new wave of youthful talent.
He will turn 17 on November 17 and has previously faced world No 1 Littler, losing 6-2 at Players Championship 27 in August in Leicester.
The 4-1 win over Ayres placed Self atop Group A, earning a spot in Saturday night's Champions Night, broadcast live on the MODUS Super Series Darts Channel on Pluto TV.
Self, the 2024 WDF World Boys Champion at 15, said: "I'm going to watch that nine-darter back so many times tonight. I was shaking after that. I needed to calm down to win the game. I kept throwing and it flowed perfectly."
He added, "I have threatened a nine-darter all week... I hit one in the practice room yesterday morning... To do it in front of the cameras was brilliant."
Self concluded, "Last week I hit seven and then eight perfect darts in a row. I'm in the form of my life so Saturday night on Champions Week, hopefully it will be the same. I need to get to the semi-final."
