A suspected terrorist was shot dead after he attacked an elite police officer with two knives outside the Israeli embassy in Belgrade, Serbia.
Police said the assailant shouted "Allahu Akbar" during the midnight assault, prompting Serbia to raise its threat level to the highest setting.
Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic stated the incident is being treated as a terrorist attack and that police presence has been increased at key sites nationwide.
Dacic added that the attacker, believed to be a minor and likely an Islamic State supporter, carried two knives and targeted a single member of the Gendarmerie.
The guard sustained only minor injuries to his face, and the attacker was fatally shot in self-defence.
