Fleetwood Town fans stormed the pitch after their League Two side eliminated Premier League champions Arsenal in a Carabao Cup fourth-round tie at Highbury on Tuesday.

The match ended 1-1 and the Cod Army advanced by winning the shootout 5-3.

Conor Haughey sealed the victory by converting the decisive penalty, following a saved spot-kick from Arsenal's recent signing Bruno Guimaraes by goalkeeper Jay Lynch.

During the celebration, cameras captured Fleetwood manager Matt Lawlor embracing a young fan, believed to be his son Max, on the field.

Arsenal's loss was compounded when 16-year-old Max Dowman received a straight red card in the 85th minute for kicking out at Harrison Neal after a hard challenge.

Gunners manager Mikel Arteta reacted with a stern stare as Dowman left the tunnel.

Lawlor expressed disbelief at the win, calling it the biggest night in the club's history and praising his players for executing their game plan against the champions.
