John Goodman has been added to Netflix's The Beast in Me season 2, Variety reports.

The series, whose second season was announced in September, will see Claire Danes return as Aggie Wiggs while Goodman takes on the role of Jack, Aggie's father. Plot specifics remain undisclosed.

Goodman, an 11-time Emmy nominee, earned seven nods for Roseanne and won a guest-actor Emmy in 2007 for Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. He recently reprised Dan Conner in The Conners, which followed the Roseanne revival for seven seasons. His credits also include HBO's The Righteous Gemstones, FX's Damages, and films such as Raising Arizona, Barton Fink, The Big Lebowski, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Digger, Argo and Flight.

His representation is handled by Gersh and Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz.

The Beast in Me was initially marketed as a limited series when picked up in 2024 and campaigned as such at this year's Emmy Awards, where Matthew Rhys won for outstanding lead actor in a limited or anthology series and the show secured an award for outstanding music composition.

Following the pattern of shows like Big Little Lies, Netflix and the series team opened a writers' room earlier this year to explore a second season.

Season 1 showrunner Howard Gordon will co-showrun season 2 with executive producer Daniel Pearle. Creator and executive producer Gabe Rotter returns, and Claire Danes will again executive produce while also starring. Additional executive producers include Antonio Campos, Caroline Baron, Amy Lippman, Conan O'Brien, David Kissinger, Jeff Ross, Claire Danes and Jodie Foster. The series is produced by 20th Television.
