The Celebrity Traitors will feature a major surprise in the semi-final episode airing tomorrow night, reshaping the series just hours before the finale.

In last Friday's episode, Love Island host Maya Jama claimed she and fellow Traitors comedian James Acaster and YouTuber King Kenny had "completed the game" because she believed no one suspected the trio.

She later posted an Instagram photo showing a "V for Victory" sign with the caption: "POV: Your name hasn't come up at the Round Table once yet."

Actress Sharon Rooney appeared to be tracking the Traitors, while actor Michael Sheen suggested they change their strategy after recent banishments of Faithfuls.

A TV insider said, "Just when you think you know exactly how the series will play out, there's another sensational turn of events. It's one which no one is likely to see coming, the producers of the show certainly didn't predict it. The likes of this has never been seen on the show before, and may never be seen again. It all adds up to make the semi-final an absolutely unmiss-able episode and the perfect lead into the finale on Friday."

The Sun will not disclose the exact nature of the revelation to avoid spoiling tonight's show, hosted by Claudia Winkleman on BBC One.

After actor Richard E Grant and Professor Hannah Fry were banished early, Faithfuls struggled to catch another Traitor, instead eliminating innocents such as ex-model Jerry Hall last Thursday and watching former EastEnder Ross Kemp "murdered" on screen.

Last Friday's episode ended with a cliffhanger as Traitor King Kenny held the casting vote between Faithfuls Sharon Rooney and comedian Joanne McNally.

Following his decision, three Traitors will face six Faithfuls.

Record viewing figures are expected for tonight's semi-final and tomorrow night's final. Last Thursday's episode attracted 10.3 million viewers, and Friday's episode drew 9.8 million. Catch-up viewings typically boost numbers by at least 60 percent.
