United Airlines pilots grounded a Newark-bound flight on Saturday after a 25-year-old passenger transmitted explicit messages that threatened a terrorist act, according to officials. The incident unfolded when the aircraft was en route from San Francisco International Airport, prompting an immediate lockdown of the cabin.

Investigators have now released the passenger's messages, which described violent intentions and demanded that the crew comply with a hijacking scenario. The pilot, following protocol, alerted air traffic control and secured the cabin while the plane continued to its destination under heightened security.

Federal authorities are reviewing the communications to determine the level of threat and to assess any potential links to extremist groups. The suspect, identified only by age, is currently in custody, and the Federal Aviation Administration has launched a formal investigation into the breach of security.

United Airlines issued a statement saying it cooperates fully with law enforcement and that passenger safety remains its top priority. The airline also confirmed that no injuries occurred and that the flight landed safely at Newark Liberty International Airport.
