Investor and media entrepreneur Byron Allen sold every one of his 1.8 million Starz shares on Thursday, according to an SEC filing, realizing $44.9 million, almost $20 million above the amount he paid.
The shares were acquired in August and September 2026 from former Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, who had bought them in a private deal with his Liberty 77 Capital firm.
Allen Family Capital, the investment vehicle of Allen, purchased a 10.7% stake in Starz for $25 million in March through that transaction.
In a separate filing, Starz disclosed its third-quarter 2026 results, showing a narrowed net loss of $34.8 million versus $52.6 million a year earlier. Revenue held steady at $322.4 million, while streaming revenue rose 1.7% year over year to $226.6 million.
Allen serves as chairman and CEO of Allen Media Group, which operates 13 broadcast television stations and 10 networks, including the Weather Channel.
He also leases a two-hour nightly comedy block on CBS, replacing the former "Late Night With Stephen Colbert" slot with "Comics Unleashed With Byron Allen" followed by "Funny You Should Ask."p>
