Bruce Blakeman received endorsements from police unions spanning New York State on his home turf in Nassau County on Thursday, positioning him as the "common sense" alternative to Governor Kathy Hochul.

Tommy Shevlin, president of the Nassau Police Benevolent Association, said outside the county's third precinct that the election "is not about Democrat versus Republican. It's about common sense."

Other law-enforcement leaders echoed the sentiment, adding their support for Blakeman as the gubernatorial candidate they believe will best serve public safety.
