Fans of Celebrity Traitors have floated a new theory that the three traitors may have engineered their own "downfall" after spotting a hint in the latest deadly dagger twist.

In Friday's broadcast, Maya Jama, James Acaster and King Kenny succeeded in convincing the Faithfuls to vote them as the "most trusted contestants" during a spooky scarecrow challenge.

The challenge also introduced the deadly dagger twist, granting Kenny two votes at the upcoming Round Table - votes he is unlikely to assign to Maya or James.

With the trio gaining extra power, Maya laughed, saying, "I had to hold in my laughter, of all the people, you saved us!" She added, "I just thought, 'Oh my gosh, have we completed this game already?' We are trusting, we are unsuspecting, and we are killing you all!"

Supporters worry Maya's confidence could later turn against her, and they cite a reason for this belief.

One user on X wrote, "So what's going to happen when the three most trusted players, the pinnacle of the Faithful, all of whom are un-shielded, The Trustworthy Trio... all walk back into Breakfast un-murdered next week?" The post continued, "The only logical reason for that: they are all Traitors."

Another commentator agreed, stating, "Absolutely! Why are the ones who won't be banished still there?" A third added, "And this should be the biggest clue! They've just pretty loudly said, 'THESE ARE THE THREE PEOPLE WHO WILL NEVER BE BANISHED' and all three are about to walk in at breakfast.. You'd like to think..."

A further tweet said, "Yeah how have Faithfuls not clocked on that Kenny and James A who are really good 'detectives/faithfuls', have not been murdered yet..."

Viewers may recall that Julie Hesmondhalgh and Joe Lycett, originally named the most trustworthy contestants, eventually fell under suspicion and were both banished.

The next episode of Celebrity Traitors airs on Thursday before Friday's final on BBC One.
