Mohmed Abdulkarim, 24, and Nouman Essghir, 24, have been formally charged after a terror-related investigation linked to a bomb scare at RAF Fairford.

Both individuals are accused under the National Security Act 2023.

Abdulkarim, a resident of Westminster, London, faces a single count of assisting a foreign intelligence service. Prosecutors allege he engaged in behaviour likely to materially aid a foreign intelligence agency in UK-related activities.

Essghir, also from London, is charged with one offence of entering a prohibited area for a purpose that prejudices the United Kingdom.

Frank Ferguson, Chief Crown Prosecutor for the CPS Special Crime and Counter Terrorism Division, said: "The Crown Prosecution Service has decided to prosecute two individuals with National Security Act offences following a Counter Terrorism Policing investigation into a high-profile incident involving RAF Fairford." He added, "We will continue to work closely with our partners as this complex investigation continues."

The initial court appearance is scheduled for today at Westminster Magistrates' Court.
