Spain international winger Nico Williams, 24, disclosed that he turned down interest from Arsenal, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain to sign a ten-year contract with his hometown club Athletic Bilbao.

The player, a World Cup winner, said he never doubted staying at Athletic and rejected numerous offers because his commitment to the club was clear.

Williams told reporters, "I've never doubted being here. I've had countless offers, I could have left, but I was clear about staying. My intention to be here is beyond question. I told Barca, Arsenal, PSG, and many others 'no' because I want to be here."

The comments came after his agent Felix Tainta suggested the winger had considered a move to Barcelona but declined over concerns about playing time. Williams insisted that game-time worries were never a factor and that his long-term deal demonstrates his loyalty.

Arsenal had pursued the Spaniard twice, first after his performances at Euro 2024 and again the following year, but Williams opted to renew with Athletic Bilbao each time.

The Gunners remain without a marquee left winger after missing out on Morgan Rogers and Vinicius Junior this summer.
